Your audio stays with you.

Privacy policy for the modern versions of Fourier, oScope, Octave, and Soundscape. Updated 2026-11-01.

Microphone access

The apps use microphone input to draw live audio waveforms, spectra, octave bands, and spectrograms. Audio processing happens on your device. The apps do not upload microphone audio or analysis results to the developer or an external server. Capture stops when an app moves to the background.

Local data

The apps retain a short audio-analysis history in memory and save your display preferences locally. Snapshots you save are kept on your device. Soundscape records audio only when you tap Record; recordings are saved on your device until you delete them or remove the app. When you request a data export, the app creates a local CSV file. You decide whether to save or share that file using the iOS share sheet and which destination to use.

Accounts and advertising

The apps do not require an account and contain no advertising and no tracking. Settings and the Pro screen list the developer’s other apps through Apple’s App Store; showing that list sends nothing to the developer. Apple handles App Store and in-app purchases and may provide its own platform diagnostics according to your Apple settings and Apple’s policies.

Anonymous usage counts

To learn which features people use, the apps send anonymous counts to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service: for example, that Soundscape was opened, that someone tried a Pro control, or that a snapshot was saved. Each count carries the app’s name, version and iOS version, and a device identifier that TelemetryDeck hashes before it leaves your device, so the developer can count people without knowing who they are. The counts never include sound, measurements, recordings, file names, your location or anything that identifies you, are not linked to you and are not used for tracking or advertising. You can turn this off at any time in each app’s Settings › Share anonymous usage.

Support and this website

Your control

You can revoke microphone access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Removing an app removes its app-local preferences and files. Copies you export or share are controlled by the destination you select.

Feedback

Settings › Send feedback opens your own mail app with a message to feedback@pocketinstruments.app, with the app’s name, version, your device model and iOS version filled in. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself. Emails are used only to read and reply to your feedback.
